Does the user have large Calendar groups? Try deleting those groups or at least reduce the number of calendars in those groups. According to the beta release notes there is a bug, which is fixed in the beta version, that causes Outlook to not responding with large numbers of groups. We had several users who reported issues with the calendar in Outlook desktop version.

Its seems to happen randomly about three times a day across 15 users. Addon's seem to not affect anything. Do you mean that the problematic users all work with same windows update--KB? If so, the issue may be related to windows instead of Outlook. In this case, if it possible, it's recommended to update your windows to latest version to check.
