Sigma lens firmware update a77
Sorry, but I have a whole thread on the incompatibility of Tamron with the A In the end Tamron admitting that it was not compatible. Neither lens supplier is without fault.
I remember that thread but the compatibility issues that some older Sigma lenses have are worse than that and cannot be cured by turning off EFCS. I have 3 Tamron lenses that work flawlessly 90mm macro, USD and f2. I wonder what's different about the ? While I have used open-source and am thankful for people who undervalue their work and give it away for free, I never got the idea..
Came back and lens would not stop down. Called and talked to a tech. Maybe the same guy worked on your lenses.
I used the shop in NY. Anyway, second time everything worked as it should and Sigma paid postage both ways - no charge for the second fix either. I kind of think their QC sucks a bit. They should have tested that before they returned the lenses to you. Call them and they should be able to help. That's too good a lens not to work right. Sigma should have fixed it the first time - both yours and mine. Best Wishes. I do have 3 Sigma lenses that have never given me any problems. It almost sounds like some oil or moisture got on the aperture blades and they aren't closing properly.
That would be a shame for such nice lenses. I hope Sigma is able to sort out the problem for you. Please let us know how your lens saga turn out. I do keep such things in the back of my mind when making lens purchasing decisions! Here's an analogy: you buy a car and want to hook up your trailer. The car manufacturer won't let you because your trailer is incompatible with their proprietary hitch and that's the only hitch you are allowed to install on your car.
You'd probably tell them to stop interfering with your use of the car that you purchased. It's not the same story though, there isn't a current standard comparable to the trailer hitch. Using your analogy one would face the same situation with all car manufacturers, each with their own proprietary hitch. To get mad at only the one manufacturer is disingenuous, if you must be mad then blame the entire industry.
It would be great for Sony to lead the way by opening up their mount but given the situation I can hardly fault them for the issues with Sigma lenses. We dig into the detail The Nikon Z mm F2.
